Around the Studio

be my valentine…everyday

So in February, we’ve been blogging each day (well fairly close to it). For me, I’ve been working with the topic of Design and
Sport, but today to honour Valentine’s day – it’s apt to reflect on love. So what is love, to you?

Today the challenge is for each Blueboater is to share a bit of what you love. Check out this photo. For me everything and anything I do is for the people in this photo – my family is all.

Then on top of that, I’m kind of what you could call, an all or nothing person. Compulsive personality. At the moment it’s triathlons. I’ve got a bike you can lift on your finger. It’s beautiful, it purrs. I don’t feel right if I haven’t clocked two hours of training a day. Then there’s writing. I love words. I love movies. And then there’s Blueboat. Last Friday, Jordan finished his take on the Blueboat Showreel. Jordan did good. It’s amazing – check out his post from Friday. When I watch it, and I see the work and the stories, narratives coming together in design and vision – well it’s a rather fine thing. I love a sense of team. Blueboat is the first real place Jordan has worked and it is wonderful to see a kid putting in and growing.

Blueboat is intense. We demand a lot. We exhaust people. I exhaust myself…But I’d like to think that the journey is a rewarding one. For those who choose to share in it; their folio is bloody amazing; their work ethic is second to none, and most importantly I’d like to think, they have gained an ability to know that when we put your mind to it – we can do anything.  When I pull up on a Monday morning to the blue cube in South Yarra, it’s with a sense of pride and anticipation for challenge and a laugh.

Take 5 minutes and make a list of the things you love. Have you got enough of them in your day. Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. I was raised on Ferris. I also love him. Happy Valentine’s Day to all!!
